1929 Ford Deluxe Model-A Roadster Pick-up

J. J. Best Banc & Co.

First produced in 1927, the Ford Model A was a great success after its predecessor, the Model T. The base original price of this roadster was around $395 and featured many design and mechanical updates. The Model A had 4-wheel mechanical drum brakes with conventional 3-speed transmission. The Model A was the first Ford to use the standard set of driver controls with conventional clutch and brake pedals, throttle and gearshift. The Model A has a visual fuel gauge on the instrument panel and was the first car to have safety glass in the windshield.

The last owner enjoyed touring this truck and made the following upgrades. He added an alternator, air filter system, oil filter, turn signals, Halogen lights, and temperature and oil gauges neatly installed in an APCO gauge holder kit.Everything has been installed professionally and properly and can be converted back to its original state if the new owner so desires. Spare parts include a generator, additional new alternator, fan belts, light bulbs, tail light, and extra oil filter. It also has been converted to a 6-volt electrical system. There is a battery cut off switch neatly mounted under the hood.

A full set of side curtains are stowed in case of inclement weather. A custom fitted rubber mat has been placed on the pickup bed as to prevent damage when loading items into the bed.

This Model A has been upgraded with a Mitchell 2 speed overdrive which is perfect for ascending hills or benefiting from a higher gear on the open road. It also has a Mitchell synchronized transmission so that double clutching is no longer necessary. These Mitchell conversions were $4,300 without labor. Service manuals and documents are with the vehicle.

This is such a delightful truck to drive. It shows very little wear and has been preserved since its professional restoration 10 years ago. It is perfect for parades, shows or to advertise a local business of the new owner.
