1969 Porsche 911 T Targa Soft Window

the long wheel base makes it rarer still
J. J. Best Banc & Co.

Introduced in 1963, the Porsche 911 was hailed as a luxury sports car that was a restyled, larger and more comfortable replacement for the Porsche 356. In 1967, Porsche introduced the more powerful 911 with the distinctive 5-leaf design alloy wheels.

The 911 is most notable for having a rear engine and being air-cooled. In 1999, this model came in fifth in an international poll determining the Car of the Century.

The Targa version -- named for the Targa Florio open road endurance race in Sicily -- appeared on the scene in 1967, sporting a stainless steel-clad roll bar, removable roof panel and a removable plastic rear window. It was manufactured between 1967 and 1973.

In 2014, this gorgeous antique underwent a full frame-off restoration including the engine and drivetrain, top end, 2 Weber carbs, brakes and lines, and the front and rear suspension. The beautiful Tangerine base coat is flawless, as is the clear coat. This Targa also boasts a luxurious black leatherette interior that seats four. The Fuch wheels have been restored but are original to the car. We have file photos showing the complete car restoration.

This soft window model was only offered for three years from 1967 to 1969. In 1969 there were approximately 250 produced. Offered only that year, the long wheel base makes it rarer still.

This is hands down the finest example of a Porsche 911 that we have seen. A true icon!
