1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe

Driven from N.J. to Florida   in  2018 with no issues
J. J. Best Banc & Co.

The Fisher-bodied series 62 replaced the Cadillac series 62 in 1940. By 1947, the last year of the second generation, many changes distinguished the series 62 convertible. The series 62 was the first Cadillac to enter production after World War II with only subtle changes from the 1946 model. With modest grille and trim changes, the bold “egg crate” grille had one less horizontal bar and parking lights were now round. In 1946 the rear fender shields were rubber. The 1947 model has stainless steel fender shields. The convertible production in 1947 helped Cadillac surpass Packard as the best selling American luxury car. This car is equipped with Hyda-matic transmission, radio, under seat heater, wide whitewall tires and the coveted Sombrero wheel covers with the red Cadillac crest in the center. The Hydra-Lectric window lifts and power top were standard features. This convertible serves as a fine example of Cadillac’s only open body style for 1947. It is a great CCCA tour car.
This Cadillac benefitted from a frame off restoration 20 years ago when it was awarded a first place badge by AACA and a premier award by CCCA. It has been a dependable tour car completing several CCCA caravans. It shows very well with few blemishes. It runs well down the road at 60 mph. An electric fuel pump has been added. Everything works including the power windows and power seat. All gauges are clear. The power convertible top is new, as is the boot cover.
