1966 Ford Mustang GT Convertible

no expense was spared in its recent body-off restoration
J. J. Best Banc & Co.

The introduction of the Ford Mustang in 1964 created a new class of automobile known as the pony car. Wildly popular since its inception, the Mustang was predictably the best-selling car of 1966.

And just when car enthusiasts thought it couldn’t get any better, the Mustang GT (short for Grand Touring) debuted with a GT Equipment Package that included a V8 engine, grille-mounted fog lights, rocker front panel stripes, disc brakes and a Rally Pack to the left and right of the steering wheel, showing RPMs and a clock.

On the instrument panel, the GT option included a speedometer and gauges for fuel, amperage, temperature and oil. The iconic pony interior featured the embossed running ponies on the front seats and wood grain appliqué accents. It was distinctive, sporty and cutting-edge, and people loved it!

This lovely 1966 Mustang GT Convertible will continue to evoke those strong passions today.

No expense was spared in its recent body-off restoration in 2019-2020. Taking the restoration to its highest level, everything was completed including a total engine rebuild. The owner also added Vintage Air and the additional options:
• power steering
• power brakes
• power top
• AM/FM radio with Bluetooth

The dark red and black pony interior is perfect and adds polished authenticity to this classic. Everything works as it should. The wood steering wheel and styled steel wheels, wrapped in new Goodyear Eagle ST radials, are a nice touch to this well-optioned car.

This sleek, Signal Flare Red Mustang is sure to evoke many good memories of the 1960s. Even more, this beauty is ready to be shown at any concours or National AACA Meet.

We doubt that you will find a better Mustang GT anywhere, especially a 1966 . . . the most sought-after year for this model.
