CollectorsNotes

This 1959 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider was originally sold in California, where it remained in a Northern California collection for approximately 25 years before being transported to Hungary for a comprehensive three-year restoration completed in 2016. Power is provided by a replacement 2.0-liter twin-cam inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in white over a red interior and is equipped with 400mm steel wheels, finned drum brakes, twin Solex carburetors, a black convertible soft top with a matching red boot, and a period transistor radio. Service performed in June 2025 included brake adjustments, carburetor rebuilding, ignition timing and point adjustments, and replacement of the spark plugs, ignition wires, and exhaust silencer. This Type 102 Spider is offered in Ohio with a clean title. Designed by Carrozzeria Touring, the 2000 Spider was produced between 1958 and 1961, with approximately 3,443 examples built. U.S.-market models were distinguished by closely spaced hood scoops and single chrome rocker-panel trim. This example received bodywork and a white repaint during its 2010s refurbishment. The silver-finished 400mm steel wheels wear chrome Alfa Romeo–branded hubcaps and are mounted with 165-section Michelin X radial tires manufactured in 2017. Suspension consists of independent double-wishbone front suspension and a solid rear axle with coil springs and telescopic dampers. Braking is provided by hydraulically actuated finned drum brakes at all four corners, which were serviced in June 2025 with drum adjustments and fresh brake fluid. The interior features red upholstery on the bucket seats and rear parcel shelf, complemented by matching door panels and carpeting. A Touring badge adorns the locking glovebox, and additional amenities include a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, heater and defroster system, and transistor radio. Instrumentation by Veglia includes a 140-mph speedometer, 8,000-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 78,000 miles, with about 600 added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The replacement 2.0-liter DOHC inline-four, produced in 1961, features a cast-iron block, aluminum cylinder head with hemispherical combustion chambers, and twin Solex carburetors. Recent service in June 2025 included rebuilding the carburetors, replacing ignition components, and adjusting timing and points. The engine block stamping AR0020403439 corresponds to a 1961-produced 2.0-liter unit. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission with synchromesh on all forward gears. A replacement exhaust silencer was installed in June 2025.
