CollectorsNotes

This 1971 Innocenti Mini Cooper was built with a specific purpose: spirited driving. It is a mechanical, high-energy machine that has been optimized for the road while retaining its aggressive, track-bred edge. If you are looking for a car that feels raw, responsive, and connected to the tarmac, this is a purpose-built example. The Driving Experience- This car delivers a visceral, competition-style experience. The heart of the vehicle is a classic A-Series engine, now mated to a competition-spec clutch (diaphragm lightweight alloy/steel flywheel and pressure plate) and straight-cut gears that provide that signature, high-pitched racing whine. It is sharp, punchy, and built for the enthusiast who wants to feel every aspect of the drive. Mechanical & Ignition Upgrades- Performance Engine Build: While the exact internal specifications are unknown, the engine has been optimized for performance. Ignition & Monitoring: Equipped with Allison electronic ignition and a new ignition coil for reliable spark. All engine vitals are monitored via a full set of Pro Comp gauges. Service & Maintenance: Recently serviced with VR-1 20/50 oil and a K&N filter. Fuel System: Completely overhauled for reliability, featuring new fuel lines, a new fuel pump, a new fuel filter, and a manual shut-off valve at the tank. Handling & Chassis- Designed for aggressive cornering and precision, the suspension has been completely modernized to allow for a fully custom setup. Full Adjustability: Outfitted with adjustable Spax shocks, adjustable cone suspension, and adjustable lower control arms. Structural Integrity: The drivetrain is kept firm and planted under load with a full suite of new engine steady bars (R/H lower front, lower rear; L/H lower rear and upper rear). Grip: Sitting on fresh, period-correct-sized Yokohama 165/70–10 tires, with the suspension aligned in 11/24. Exterior & Functional Refinements Finished in white with black accents, the car has been updated with a focus on durability, safety, and functionality: Lighting: Updated with a new LED third brake light across the rear window, new Ferrari "hockey puck" side marker lights, and new tail light fixtures/lenses with LED internals for maximum visibility. Body & Trim: Features a new Innocenti sump guard, a new Aston-style locking gas cap, and a new nylon Webasto sunroof cover. All door window moldings (in/outer) have been replaced. Electrical: The entire system has been refreshed, including new wiring, updated front and rear fuse panels, and a new alternator (plus a spare). Included Spares- -This car comes ready to run, with several final components included for the next owner: -New set of silicone radiator hoses (bottom hose remains to be installed). -Spare rear subframe bolts with poly bushings. -Spare alternator. This 1971 Innocenti offers an authentic, high-revving experience that is increasingly rare to find. It is a machine that has undergone extensive mechanical sorting and is ready for the road.
